Makeup Organization

Hey Embraced beauties and friends!

Welcome to my new blog! I’m here to share beauty tips, tricks, and sales as well as insights into the unicorn that is bridal makeup. I’m a direct person, so I promise to deliver all information with a smile, a bit of sass, and honesty. Cheers to a break from the constant news cycle on Covid-19 and a chance to focus on something else!

Today, I want to focus on makeup organization. How do you organize your makeup?  I’ve got a little bit of extra time on my hands. Not a lot, but enough that I’m starting to chip away at that long To-Do list, which led me to organize my makeup and bathroom counter.

I’m a bit of a type A personality, so I need to have my makeup organized and in some type of organizer. I purchased my makeup organizers from HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, and Amazon.   As my makeup grew, so did the need for more organizers.  On my left, I have my makeup brushes organized into two sections: large face brushes and smaller eye brushes. This way, I know where to find what I need when I need it. This helps to cut down on my prep and application time. The right side is mostly powder products.

I don’t know about you, but I have a lot more eyeshadow and eyeliners than I probably need.   Having too many products can become overwhelming, but to alleviate that problem I keep all eye products together and only keep my go-to products on the vanity. Anything that’s a bit fancy or special goes into a separate organizer underneath my sink. (and yes, under the sink is organized too LOL!) The top drawers hold my individual shadows, gel liners, and eye shadow primers and the lower drawers hold palettes and a few straggling individual shadows.

The top section is larger and has multiple sections to hold larger makeup. In the top left are longer pencils like full size eyeliners, brow pencils, lip liners, eyeshadow sticks, and mascara. Next to that on the top right are my face primers, moisturizer, and finishing spray. Next are my foundation and tube concealers. I’m a liquid and stick foundation kinda girl as you can see. Next to my foundations are individual organizational slots that hold lipsticks, travel size products, and liners that are running low. Having a few lip products here is great and allows me to apply my lipstick during the makeup application in the bathroom. Don’t worry, I still have some lipstick and lip glosses in my car for those times I’m on the go.

In the organizer on my left, I keep my powders and samples. The top two drawers hold eye pads and makeup samples. The other drawers hold all my blushes, setting powders, and finishing powders.

Keeping my makeup in these organizers helps me to stay organized, and demystifies the makeup application process a bit. It also helps you to know what you have!  I often hear clients say that they don’t know what’s in their makeup bag or stash, and that’s because they rarely take the time to organize their makeup. Instead, they keep everything  together in  a travel bag. Organizing your makeup is one step closer to a seamless makeup application process.

I hope this post provides some insight into how I organize my makeup, and that it inspires you to do some organizing of your own!
