Finding your way through the sea of fall eyeshadow palettes

Happy First Day of Fall!

Fall abruptly has made her presence known and I was’t ready! (insert Kevin Hart voice) Noooo ma’am!   I don’t know about you but I’ve been resisting turning on my heat and opted for wearing layers of clothing. I know that sounds silly but I just wanted to ease into this season shift from tank tops to sweaters but that isn’t what happened.

And just as fall weather has rolled in so have the fall makeup trends. Now I’m not mad at the product shift because that’s how things go, but I also know that it’s easy to get lost in a sea of new products meant to get you excited for the season.  And I’m just like you, sometimes I get caught up in the pretty and trendy things but that isn’t always best. In a world where things aren’t flowing like they used to, I’m leaning towards sticking to and re-purpose the staples.

Neutral everyday palettes. If I purchase an eyeshadow palette I like to make sure there are multiple colors I can use for multiple occasions. I hate when I get a palette that has so many colors I don’t know where to start or half of the colors I would never touch so I’m only using one side of the palette. I’d rather get a palette that has multiple colors that I can mix and match for everyday makeup and glam nights out.

Neutral doesn’t have to equal boring. Think a classic black pair of slacks and a crisp white shirt. BEAUTIFULLY CLASSIC and the quintessential neutrals, but you can always take it to the next level with accessories. In the case of makeup, keep your neutrals or classics and jazz it up with a pop of lashes, liner, or color. You can still get your fall colors in - using a classic neutral palette.

Here are 4 palettes that I think can help get all of your fall feels and meet your everyday needs.

Tartlette 2 Bloom In Clay

For my fairer skinned clients, this palette can easily take you from the 8am office meeting to the 8pm date night. Mix and match the light and dark colors to add definition and invoke your mood of choice; you can keep it light and airy or be dark and moody. Whether you want to go matte or shimmer, this palette gives you great color choices to meet your needs.

Smashbox Double Exposure 2.0 Eyeshadow Palette

I haven’t used this palette yet, but I own the Double Exposure 1.0 palette and actually reach for it more than my Full Exposure Palette. So why do I recommend this? Because I like that instead of giving a gradation of champagne, brown, and black, this palette introduces purple and blue as an alternative to black. This is how you can take that everyday black and white suit I previously mentioned to the next level by adding a pop of color - deep purple and dark blue are still sophisticated and can elevate your look.

MAC Art Library Nude Model

I think this palette is so pretty! You’ve got your gold and champagnes, mid-tone browns, and deeper plums and browns to carry you through multiple seasons. Created by makeup pros, this palette translates well for the everyday women giving solid options to keep soft it or spice things up. This is definitely the palette I would use for everyday and easily travel with because I could do everything with it.

Urban Decay Born to Run

Ok, so this palette is a little bigger and has more bold colors than I normally would recommend for a neutral palette. For makeup novices, more than 12 colors can be super overwhelming. But for the woman that’s got the basics down and is ready to step her game up, this is a great palette because the everyday neutral staples are available and you get to play with varying shades of greens, purple and blues. These are the colors you’ve probably been eyeing but have been too scared to commit. This palette allows you to build on your makeup skills by easing into new colors.

So this fall as you’re switching your tank top and flip flops for sweaters and knee boots, take a look at your eyeshadow palettes and see if you can revive an old classic or if it’s time for you to switch things up with a new one. Happy fall friends!

Talk to you soon,
